Regrettably, hairstyling mishaps are becoming more common due to an increasingly unregulated industry. Currently, hairdressers in Australia are not required to have a licence or regulated qualifications and as of June 2024 they are not required to have health and safety checks by the health department each year. This concerning issue is further intensified by the emergence of online hairdressing courses which present a hazard, considering that hairdressing cannot effectively be taught online.I have just submitted for an e-petition on the Parliment website but while we wait I have also created my own petition, please have a read help me get through to the government that our industry is important not only to hairdressers but our clients that need to have their hair done by registered and qualified hairdressers not someone that has done a lesson online and calls themselves a hairdresser.
